Gloria Villalta de Merino

55 years old / Traditional food seller

She does some house chores, as her diabetes makes it difficult for her to walk and stand for long periods. For this reason, her daughters-in-law help her with household tasks, as well as assist her with cooking and selling traditional food outside the house. They had to build a wall to prevent water from entering when the nearby river or stream overflows. They have lived there for 50 years. Four people will live in the new house: her husband, a grandson who wasn’t at home at the time, and her son-in-law, who was working.

José Saúl Merino Alvarado

58 years old / Farmer / Gloria’s husband

José enjoys working in the field and with his animals, such as the chickens.

We felt great joy when they told us they were going to build us a small house, and we thank God for the blessing of having a home.

Thank you very much for donating a house to us. May God bless you greatly and provide for you, just as you have blessed us.
