Ana Betty Zelaya Espinoza
47 years old / Sells oysters
Ana usually sells oysters when she has the chance and the rest of the time, she spends it at home taking care of her son and doing house chores. Ana also listens to music when she is at home, sometimes she also goes out to church. The house where they live, it’s almost falling apart, the post of wood that they use to hold the wall of the house is old, and they are afraid that it might fall on top of them. During the rainy season, they suffer a lot because of the condition of the house, but they have hope that they will have a better place to live.
Francisco Ayala
60 years old / Farmer / Ana’s husband
Francisco is not able to work like he used to after hurting his knee 15 years ago, he was playing soccer and after an accident he started suffering severe pain on his knee, that is why he is not able to move too much or do a lot of physical activities.
Jose Amilcar Hernández Zelaya
28 years old / Ana’s son
José works crushing cashew seeds and sells them. He grows flowers and fruit trees when he has the time. He doesn’t work too much, because of his illness, he has sickle cell anemia which causes him to feel unwell form time to time, he has to get blood transfusions every 3 months, if not, he will start feeling sick, he spends most of the time at the hospital because of that condition. He also has problems with his heart.
For them as family, the house will be a big blessing, they especially need a proper place for their son to live in.
