Ana wakes up at 5 in the morning to get her children ready and take them to school. In the afternoon, she enjoys moments with her kids, laughing and playing together. Her mother and husband also live with them, forming a close-knit family. However, their home has a major problem: it’s made of mud. When it rains, water seeps in everywhere, and at night, fear takes hold of them. They worry that the walls of the rooms might collapse, and on several occasions, flooding has soaked their belongings.
Ana will live in the new house with her husband José (41 years old), her daughter Litzy (10 years old) and her youngest son Gabriel (7 years old) but they were not at home at the moment of the interview. Her husband was at work and her children were at school.
"I felt immense joy when I learned that I would receive a house, especially because my children were happy that we wouldn't have to spend nights fearing that the house would collapse on us. It is a great blessing because we do not have the resources to build a safe and dignified home for our family."
