Karen wakes up at four in the morning and heads to work, clocking in at 5:30 AM. Her shift usually ends at 5:30 PM, but sometimes she stays longer. She and her husband have been living in the community for eight years, and it was her husband who built their house. On Sundays, she enjoys doing household chores, as it’s the only day she has off.

Manuel wakes up at 4:30 AM to take his wife to work before starting his own day, working in various trades such as farming corn, cassava, and sugarcane, as well as building fences. In the afternoons, he likes to clean their home. On Sundays, his day off, he enjoys playing soccer, where he plays as a defender and midfielder. His favorite teams are Firpo from El Salvador and Real Madrid from Spain.


Wendy feels very happy because they needed a new house. They said, “Our house is getting old and rotten, and we can’t afford a new one. We thank God for this blessing.”
